COVID 19

COVID 19 Policy

What to expect from your stylist and what has changed at Lola’s Hair Boutique…

You’ll notice some changes the next time you visit us for your appointment, these changes comply with the Government guidelines and follow advice from the National Hair and Beauty Federation and Public Health England to reduce the risk of contracting COVID 19.

We continually review the GOV.UK, Public Health England and the National Hair and Beauty Federation websites for updates and guidance.

We are still offering our full range of services and treatments. You may have noticed that some salons are restricting certain services however, the government have not advised against any treatments that stylists can offer. We have conducted a risk assessment and deemed all treatments are safe as long as stylists and clients follow the below guidelines.

We will continue to maintain our high standards when it comes to cleaning the salon. After an initial deep clean, workstations will have an additional clean using an alcohol-based product between clients.

All areas that are touched frequently will be cleaned and sterilised on a regular basis.  All hair styling equipment will be sterilised using Barbicide disinfectant between clients. All stylists will be wearing PPE in line with government guidelines; this will include a face shield and a disposable protective gown. Disposable gowns will be changed and face shields will be cleaned with disinfectant between clients.

Your stylist will be washing hands regularly between clients and using alcohol based hand sanitiser. They will also have their temperatures taken at the beginning of the day using an infrared thermometer.

The latest government guidelines have advised the hairdressing industry that wearing a face shield is mandatory. Wearing a face mask isn’t mandatory but is down to individual preference. Some of our stylists may choose to wear both, others only the mandatory face shield. Please do not be alarmed if our stylists are not wearing both, they are following the guidelines and have adequate protection to protect their client and themselves.

We are in the process of moving over to biodegradable towels, this is to reduce the risk of cross contamination to clients and is healthier to the environment.

You will notice that we removed all reading material from the salon and stopped offering tea/coffee/refreshments; this is something we implemented before we closed the salon to help prevent the spread of COVID 19 and will continue to practice.

There are a number of automatic hand sanitiser machines at the workstations and one at reception. A sensor operates these, just place your hand underneath the nozzle and a small amount of alcohol based hand gel/liquid will be dispensed.

Social distancing has been reduced to 1m to allow stylists to cut and colour your hair however, we must still adhere to the 2m social distancing rules where possible. We are fortunate to have a large salon and are using every other workstation, this allows over 2m between each workstation and over 2m between you and a client sitting next to you. We have 3 washbasins and will only use the 2 that are furthest away from each other; the distance between them is over 2m. The stylists will only take you to the washbasins when there is no risk of you coming into contact with another client within the recommended social distancing rule. We can comfortably keep to the social distancing measures which means we do not need to implement any barriers between workstations.

Our salon front and rear door will be kept open to keep the salon well ventilated

We will make sure everyone’s contact details are up to date. This is so we can contact clients should there be a need to inform you of a possible COVID 19 exposure so you can take the necessary responsible steps and we can assist the NHS with test and trace requests.

We will not accept walk in appointments during this time, if you would like an appointment please book ahead by either calling the salon or messaging us via Facebook or Email.

When you arrive for your appointment:

Please try to be on time for your appointment to keep everything running smoothly.

Please stand on our colourful “please stand here” floor sign at reception and wait to be seen by a member of staff.

If someone is already standing on the "please stand here" floor sign as you enter, please wait outside the front door until no one is standing on the floor sign before you enter the salon.

We are keeping our waiting area open but only for 1 client, if you are asked to take a seat please only sit where the floor sign is instructing you to sit.

Please do not bring friends or children to the salon unless you are accompanying a child for their appointment or your friend has an appointment at the same time with another stylist. The only exception to this is if you require someone to assist you in and out of the salon.

Your stylist will go through a "health check questionnaire" with you to confirm you are not symptomatic of the coronavirus. We will capture your up to date contact details to assist with the NHS test and trace request, this is GDPR compliant and details of how we collect and store your information is explained on this questionnaire.

Please use the automatic hand sanitiser at reception and help yourself to a face mask should you wish to wear one. There is no lawful requirement for you to wear a mask and we will not ask you to wear one but if you would like one then please take one.

Your stylist will sit you at your workstation where you will have your consultation. Please feel free to bring your own refreshments/magazines to read but please keep bags and jackets (unless it’s raining!) any other unnecessary items at home.

Your gown and towel will be clean and fresh for your appointment.

Due to the amount of time since your last cut you may be charged for a redesign, this is purely down to the amount of hair growth and the time needed to transform your hair back to its former glory!

At the end of your service your stylist will take your payment at the workstation.

If you have used one of our face masks, please remove it and place it in the bin by reception (or keep it if you want to use it for the rest of the day)

Please clean your hands using the hand sanitiser again before touching the door handle when leaving the salon.

Don’t panic if these steps seem confusing, your stylist will help you along the way.

IF YOU FEEL UNWELL, HAVE A PERSISTENT COUGH, BEEN IN CONTACT WITH ANYONE WHO HAS COVID 19 OR SYMPTOMS OF COVID 19, A TEMPERATURE OF 37.8 OR HIGHER, A LOSS OR CHANGE IN SENSE OF TASTE OR SMELL PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE SALON. PLEASE CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT AND WE WILL RE BOOK 14 DAYS LATER OR WHEN YOU FEEL BETTER.

Price changes:

As you can imagine, buying all the PPE, extra cleaning products and reducing the amount of clients we can see at one time has a huge financial impact on our salon.

We also understand that everyone has had a very hard time financially in recent months.

We have decided NOT to increase our prices to our services, which is something we normally address at the start of every financial year in April.

We have decided to ask for a COVID supplement fee of £4 per person. This supplement contributes to some of the cost the salon has to pay out to maintain the safety to staff and clients.

I want to stress that this is a TEMPORARY supplement fee, once there is no risk of COVID and all restrictions have been lifted so there is no need for any PPE, this charge will go and our prices remain competitive.

This was a difficult decision to make but one that needs to be addressed to keep the salon operating and providing a professional service for our clients.

Paying card or cash:

We have increased the amount you can pay on your card via contactless to £45. Some retailers are refusing to accept cash however; we are accepting all types of payment at this time until we are advised otherwise.

Thank you for your continued support it is really appreciated and we look forward to seeing you soon.
