What is OLAPLEX® and how does it work?

OLAPLEX was founded by Dean Christal, who teamed up with scientist Dr Craid Hawker and Dr Eric Pressly to cook up a new molecule that works from inside the hair strands to strengthen and repair damaged locks where the structure has broken down. 

It maximises the strength of hair by reconnecting broken disulphide sulphur bonds which gives hair a thicker look and healthier and stronger feeling,

OLAPLEX is used as a protective agent during chemical processes to prevent hair damage from exposure to chemicals. It also can be used as a restorative post-treatment to increase hair’s strength after chemical services. OLAPLEX rebuilds hair structure working from the inside out and also helps to increase the effectiveness of other treatments.
OLAPLEX is effective on all hair types as well as on extensions. OLAPLEX treatment can also be used on virgin hair to make it tangle-free and shiny.

OLAPLEX is also split into three stages – and when you use each one differs.

Hair damage has been a major problem that’s existed since the invention of hair dye. To deposit colour or lighten hair a colourist needs to “break the bonds” in your hair strand that hold the hair dye. The lighter you go – the more bonds are broken! A drastic colour change can sometimes cause serious hair damage including severe breakage and dryness.
OLAPLEX has the ability to reconnect broken disulphide bonds in the hair shaft and minimise the probability of breakage. The product increases hair elasticity and enables hair to accept more dramatic colour changes with less or no damage. Hair can be coloured or lightened to any level with minimal damage to the strands. Dark hair can go blonde faster and blondes can have their hair even blonder without being fried. OLAPLEX literally goes into hair and reverses damage from previous exploits and also prevents damage to your hair that would be caused by chemicals during colour service.

OLAPLEX can be used on its own as a separate hair treatment in order to repair damaged hair. The ‘Stand-alone OLAPLEX Bond Reparation Treatment’ can be done at any time, whether you have had a chemical service or not. Heat styling and tension from combing and brushing can also weaken the hairs protein bonds and cause damage inside the hair shaft. OLAPLEX Bond Reparation Treatment is a great way to rebuild hair strength for those with chemically processed, colour-treated, permed and mechanically damaged hair. The treatment also works to strengthen and soften coarse grey hair that is prone to breakage.
